Scarlet with Viggo Mortensen recording the score for “The Dead Don’t Hurt”
scarlet rivera with viggo mortensen Viggo Mortensen and music producer Travis Dickerson began working on the soundtrack for ‘The Dead Don’t Hurt’ while Viggo was still developing the script. They played, edited, and brainstormed until the concept was solid.
I was excited when I got the call to record for the film. Working on the score with Viggo and music producer Travis was spontaneous and intense, but they also made it fun.  There were no charts or written parts in the studio. My lines emerged with on-the-spot instructions and experimental ideas from Viggo.
The final soundtrack for an emotional journey set in the rugged 1860s American West featured a trio of musicians: Viggo on keyboards, Cameron Stone on cello, and me on violin. Once the musical parts were recorded, Viggo and Travis kept playing and editing until the score and production were finished. ‘The Dead Don’t Hurt’ premiered worldwide on May 31, 2024.

Scarlet appears in the Martin Scorsese film Rolling Thunder Review.
